She never met Dash...She was bullied and tormented by stronger pegasi...She ran away, to where no pony would go, "The Everfree Forest"...There she discovered her gift to speak to the creatures of the land and there she made her stand to protect her new found animal friends from the forces of Nightmare Moon...She's winning...

Note: Going to alternate the story with the main cast "Eternal Night" identities until I've done them all. Any objections?

Nightmare Moon eventually needed living shadowbolts to command her shadow forces, because she couldn't be everywhere at once, so she recruited pegasi that supported her takeover and put them in charge of flights of shadows.

The comic assumes that Nightmare Moon had been imprisoned for 1000 years already. So, everything is as it was, but Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy never met.

If she had met Rainbow Dash, she would not have been bullied.
If she wasn't bullied she never would have ran away.
If she never ran away, she would not have befriended the monsters in the Everfree Forest.
If she had never befriended the monsters in the Everfree Forest, she never would have be come the badass Fluttershy we see above.
